The UK has an absence of Franchise-specific legislation

Advocating Compulsory Ethical Franchising

Promoting a British Franchise Association benefiting and supporting all  and available for all irrespective if their Franchisor desires to join

Mandatory framework of Franchisor disclosure legislation and regulation in set-up and on-going

A well-designed franchise structure should have peculiarities such as its mandatory disclosure set-up, a requirement for on-going franchisee support, the need for a scheme to resolve and/or litigate disputes and a franchisee protocol for exit planning

Yet the existing regulatory lacuna leaves the UK with over an estimated 48,000 franchise businesses at the mercy of the expensive court process in which generic principles and provision of business law are applied in an attempt to resolve franchise disputes, cruelly disenfranchises franchisees..

Big Fish Little Fish

Our Mission

  • To advocate for the passing or change of franchise specific legislation and/or regulations in order to provide adequate legal protection for Franchisees and their investments and to cultivate a healthy franchising sector in the UK.
  • Franchisense would like to investigate the relevant legal framework and regulations in the UK and compare them to those of our global peers and question if the UK laws and regulations are enough or if the passing of mandatory formal ethical ‘guidelines’ or regulations will further benefit franchising in the UK?
  • To conduct a comparative analysis of the franchise laws and regulations of other countries to determine how those laws have impacted the franchise climate of those countries and how the lack thereof has impacted franchising in the UK.
